BOISE, Idaho -- A bizarre finish to a bizarre season.

Are we shocked?

Wyoming's offense looked like it showed up to the yard Tuesday, driving 67 yards on nine plays for an opening-drive touchdown in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Then, Craig Bohl's bunch reverted to old habits. The three-and-out kind.

While the offense stumbled, Kent State's prolific, fast-paced attack went to work, scoring 17 unanswered points in the blink of an eye. Surely Levi Williams and the Pokes couldn't match the Golden Flashes blow for blow, right?

Wrong.

Williams gashed Kent State for 200 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, becoming the first quarterback in bowl history to accomplish such a feat. Isaiah Neyor also hauled in his 12th touchdown pass of the season late in the second quarter.

Wyoming's defense only forced one punt all afternoon. It was a big one though. It was sandwiched between two Cowboy touchdowns in the early stages of the third quarter.

In the end, it was Williams tossing potatoes to his teammates below after being named the game's MVP after a 52-38 victory over the Flashes, the Cowboys third straight postseason win.

The fans, as you could imagine, hopped on that roller coaster one last time in 2021:

We will lose to New Mexico, then turn around and beat Utah State and then Turn around and lose to Hawaii. Consistency was really lacking this year. But another winning season down another bowl win for the program. Go Pokes!

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
