Show Us Your Picks: Week 2
LARAMIE -- Has it really been 20 years already?
The 2004 Wyoming football team will be honored this Saturday during the Cowboys' home opener in Laramie. That group, led by Corey Bramlet, Jovon Bouknight and John Wendling won six regular-season games before stunning UCLA 24-21 in the Las Vegas Bowl.
With just 57 seconds remaining in regulation, Bramlet found tight end John Wadkowski in the back of the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown strike. That game-winning toss sunk the Bruins, who were a two-touchdown favorite that night in chilly Sin City.
That also snapped a 38-year drought without a postseason victory.
Wyoming had won just nine games over the previous four seasons. Joe Glenn led the Cowboys to four of those in 2003, his first year on campus, including upset victories over rivals BYU and Colorado State.

In '04, Wyoming topped Appalachian State, Ole Miss, Lousiana-Monroe, San Diego State and Air Force before winning a crucial road game, ironically at UNLV, to become bowl eligible.
Joining us as guest pickers this week are a couple of key figures from that team, linebacker Guy Tuell and placekicker Deric Yaussi.
Congrats to that squad, one that won't soon be forgotten around here.
Now, back to business.
The Mountain West had a major opportunity to make waves during Week 1 of the college football season.
It didn't.
Five teams fell, including Wyoming, which suffered a lopsided 48-7 setback at Arizona State. CSU was blanked at No. 4 Texas and New Mexico, Hawaii and Fresno State all gave valiant efforts in losses to Arizona, UCLA and Michigan, respectively.
UNLV carried the conference flag last Saturday, routing Houston on the road, 27-7.
All but one of us whiffed on that.
