Six Cowgirl Tennis Players Named Scholar Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz., – For the 11th time under Head Coach Dean Clower, the Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team has received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Team Academic Award, announced Monday by the organization.
As a team, the Cowgirls once again had a stellar academic year in the classroom, compiling a 3.57 GPA as a squad in 2022-23.

In order to receive the honor as a team, the squad must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above during the academic year. Scholar Athletes, meanwhile, must have a GPA of 3.5 or better for the academic calendar.
UW had six student-athletes receive Scholar Athlete honors this season.
Those were, Violetta Borodina, Noesjka Brink, Ana Fernandez, Lucia Malinak, Maria Oreshkina and Sophie Zehender. A total of 43 Cowgirl student-athletes have now been named Scholar Athlete by the ITA under Clower.
