UW X-Country to Compete Against Ranked Programs in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind., – The University of Wyoming cross country program looks to compete against several Top 10 nationally ranked teams at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame at the Burke Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., tomorrow morning.
Cowgirls will run at 8:30 a.m. MT while the Cowboys start at 9:15 a.m. MT.

Cowboys look to keep their winning streak alive against four nationally ranked teams in No. 4 Northern Arizona, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 29 Cal Baptist and No. 30 Michigan State from the USTFCCCA Week Two Coaches’ Poll, their strongest competition to date. The men will run in the Blue Division 8k race, the second 8k of the season.
Men’s Field: Adams State, Akron, Appalachian State, Belmont, Boise State, Bradley, Cal Baptist, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Grand Valley State, Idaho State, Indiana State, IU Indianapolis, Liberty, Maine, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Northern Arizona, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Purdue, Purdue-Fort Wayne, St.Thomas (MN), Texas A&M-CC, Texas Tech, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt, Washington State, Western Illinois, Western Ontario (CA), Windsor (CA), Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wright State and Youngstown State.
The Cowgirls have no lack of competition either as they look forward to a field filled with another four nationally ranked teams in No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 5 BYU and No. 25 Michigan State. The women will run in the Blue Division 5k race, the second time this season the Cowgirls will run a 5k and first since winning the Wyoming Invite.

Cowboys won the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn., led by Mason Norman who came in fifth. Ryker Holtzen and Jacob White also finished in the top 10, securing the close victory over Navy by just eight points.
On the women’s side, Kylie Simshauser gabbed third overall and led the women alongside Abigail Whitman to a team third-place finish with 79 points, the best finish in meet history.
