“We feel like we were deserving of a win, but we played a lot of players, though,” head coach Josh Purdum said. “We created a lot of chances, and we were aggressive to win the ball in good areas, we just didn’t end up coming up with the goal that mattered.”

The result moves Wyoming to 2-3-3 on the season. The Wildcats are now 1-7-4 on the year.

The Cowgirls held an edge in scoring opportunities. They fired 14 shots versus Weber State’s eight and six of Wyoming’s shots tested Wildcats’ goalkeeper, Maya Cordova.

Cowgirl keeper, Haley Bartel, logged her fourth shutout this season and fifth of her career. After a first half that didn’t need her to make any saves, Bartel turned away a pair of shots during the final 45 minutes.

“Defensively, we were pretty stout all game,” Purdum said.

Maddi Chance led all players with four shots, half of which were on target. Raegan Richardson had two shots, one on frame, and Erin Dahl came off the bench to provide two shots, one that was on target.

Ali Swenson paced the Wildcats, offensively. She registered three shots, however, none of them were on frame.

Wyoming now heads into Mountain West Conference play. The Cowgirls travel to Colorado College on Thursday before traveling to Air Force on Sunday.
