What Head Coach Jay Sawvel Said
"I thought the intent was good today, coming off a scrimmage. I thought we had a really good practice overall and there was a lot of guys that showed up and made plays, offensively, which was a good thing. I think defensively we got a lot of really good work in the secondary. We need to and are looking forward to playing in front of people during the spring game.”

The Safety and Nickel Group is Strong
The Cowboys return two of the top defensive backs in the Mountain West this season in nickel Desman Hearns and safety Jones Thomas. The Pokes also welcome back some talented players at the position and brought in some new talent in the transfer portal.

Hearns recorded 35 total tackles a season ago along with two interceptions and five pass breakups, which both tied for the team lead. He also forced two fumbles on the season. Thomas is Wyoming’s leading returning tackler with 57 a season ago. He also tied for the team lead with two interceptions along with four pass breakups.
