
Pokes Cap MPSF’s with Victories in 200 Back, 400 Free Relay
PHARR, Texas – The Cowboys topped off the 2026 MPSF Swimming and Diving Championships with MPSF titles in the 200-yard backstroke and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Three other Pokes also found themselves on the podium tonight.

Wyoming finished third in the team standings, with 726 points, behind Air Force in first with 819.5 and UNLV in second with 769.5.
400-YARD FREESTYLE RELAY
The 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Boysen, Casey, Kogler and O’Connor earned the first MPSF relay title for the Pokes to cap off the week on a high note. The relay team swam a 2:52.81, breaking their own school record.
200-YARD BACKSTROKE
Junior Simon Casey earned his second MPSF individual title, this time in the 200-yard backstroke going 1:41.55. Casey also broke his own school record in the event.
Freshman Jackson Kogler also found himself back on the podium, taking third with a time of 1:43.38. In the consolation final, senior Caleb Ozenne finished in fourth, 12th overall, with a time of 1:47.23. The trio of Cowboys added 41 points.
1,650-YARD FREESTYLE
Sophomore Isaac Lee picked up 17 team points when as he placed second in the mile freestyle race. He swam a time of 15:22.39 in the fastest heat. Junior Derek Long would also swim in the fast heat and take sixth with a time of 15:34.22 for 13 points.
Sophomore Andrew Cooper was the last Cowboy to finish with a time of 16:01.83.
200-YARD BUTTERFLY
Senior Alex Metzler made it onto the podium once again, taking second for 17 points in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:44.24. This is good for No. 3 in team history. Junior Adam Pannell and senior Collin Davis picked up another 27 points with their times of 1:45.44 for fifth and 1:46.72 for sixth, respectively. In the “B” final, freshman Travis Ayers finished in 12th with a time of 1:49.19 for five team points. Freshman Cade Doherty would touch the wall at 1:51.33 in the bonus final.
200-YARD BREASTSTROKE
Junior Griffith Orloff turned in a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, logging a time of 1:56.39 and moving to No. 4 all-time. Also in the championship final, sophomore Joe Morales swam to seventh with his time of 1:58.07. This is good for No. 7 in program history. Senior Christian Louie would finish sixth in the bonus final with a time of 2:00.10. Wyoming added 28 team points.
100-YARD FREESTYLE
Freshman Jack Boysen held down the championship final for Wyoming in the 100-yard Freestyle. He placed sixth with a time of 43.98. In the “B” final, sophomore Luke O’Connor and freshman Edward Rhoe touched the wall 3-4 and 11th and 12th overall.
O’Connor swam a time of 44.23 while Rhoe finished at 44.61. Sophomore Gray Sisco picked up the last points in the events in 16th at 45.55. Overall, the group added 25 points.

Diving will return for the NCAA Zone E Championships, March 9-14, looking to add to the five student-athletes who earned auto bids to the NCAA Swim & Dive Championships, March 19-20 for the women and March 25-28 for the men.
