Wyoming Cowboys in the NFL: Week 8

LARAMIE -- It appears as though the bye week occurred at a fortuitous time for Buffalo and former University of Wyoming quarterback, Josh Allen. The Bills, who had lost two in a row, throttled a hot Carolina team, 40-9, in Charlotte.

Allen had one of his more mundane stat lines, but he didn’t need to be at his best for the pieces around him to thrive. He finished 12-for-19 for 163 yards with one touchdown, while rushing it a season-low three times totaling seven yards with two scores.

For the season, Allen is 134-for-197 for 1,560 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions. He’s added 261 yards on 49 carries with five scores for 5-2 Buffalo. The Bills host Kansas City in Week 9.

Below is a list of all the former University of Wyoming Cowboys and how they did in Week 8:

Marcus Epps, Philadelphia Eagles (safety)
Epps had a decent day in the Eagles’ 38-20 victory over the New York Giants. He made a pair of tackles. For the season, Epps owns six tackles for 6-2 Philadelphia. The Eagles are idle in Week 9.

Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals (linebacker)
Wilson enjoyed a productive day in the Bengals’ 39-38 loss to the New York Jets. He registered five tackles. For the season, Wilson possesses 46 tackles, four passes defended and one fumble recovery for 3-5 Cincinnati. Keep in my mind, Wilson was recently benched as a starter and requested a trade so his days with the Bengals could be numbered. Cincinnati hosts Chicago in Week 9.

Frank Crum, Denver Broncos (offensive line)
Crum was active for the second consecutive game in the Broncos’ 44-24 win over Dallas. He played 11 snaps, four on offense and seven on special teams.
For the season, Crum has participated in 19 snaps, nine on offense and 10 special teams for 6-2 Denver. The Broncos travel to Houston in Week 9.

Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints (defensive end)
Granderson had one of his more mild games in the Saints’ 23-3 loss to Tampa Bay. He recorded one tackle. For the season, Granderson has made 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks – which ranks in a tie for 16th in the league – six tackles for loss, two passes defended and six quarterback hits for 1-7 New Orleans. The Saints travel to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9.

Andrew Wingard, Jacksonville Jaguars (safety)
Wingard and the Jaguars were idle in Week 8. For the season, Wingard has logged 39 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, three passes defended and one quarterback hit for 4-3 Jacksonville. The Jaguars travel to Las Vegas in Week 9.

Chad Muma, Indianapolis Colts (linebacker)
Muma was not active in the Colts’ 38-14 win over Tennessee. For the season, Muma has registered five tackles for 7-1 Indianapolis. The Colts travel to Pittsburgh in Week 9.

Treyton Welch, New Orleans Saints (tight end)
Welch has yet to be elevated from the practice squad.

Solomon Byrd, Houston Texans (defensive end)
Byrd was released and resigned by Houston, the team that selected him in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, this offseason and is currently a member of the Texans' practice squad. In four seasons in Laramie, Byrd tallied 87 tackles and 10 sacks. He didn't play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He finished his career at USC.

Isaiah Neyor, Green Bay Packers (wide receiver)
Neyor was originally signed by the 49ers this offseason as an undrafted free agent. He later caught on in Green Bay where he has been added to the practice squad. Neyor, who played at Wyoming from 2019-21, caught 52 passes for 1,126 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added another on the ground. The Fort Worth product transferred to Texas in 2022 and capped his collegiate career at Nebraska last fall.
