LARAMIE -- Numerous times throughout the spring and fall, Jay Sawvel said Jaylan Bean was "coming on."

Wyoming's head coach liked what he saw from the 6-foot-4 wideout in the offseason, but when the lights came on, the production never materialized. The Dallas native hauled in only five passes for 64 yards last fall, including a long of 22 in a home win over San Jose State.

Bean is now in the transfer portal, the 16th known Cowboy to enter free agency since the season ended 34 days ago in Honolulu. He has one season, possibly two, of eligibility remaining, depending on whether or not he receives a waiver from the NCAA after starting his collegiate career at Garden City Community College (Kan.).

The two-week window opens today and goes through Jan. 16.

Bean, who spent two seasons in Laramie, is the second receiver to hit the open market, joining Chris Durr Jr., who led the Cowboys with 469 yards and four touchdowns on 45 receptions.

A zero-star prospect out of DeSoto High School, Bean received little interest after snagging 48 passes for 607 yards and six scores during his senior season. During his lone season in junior college, he hauled in 20 throws for 230 yards, 103 of which came in his final two outings.
