FORT COLLINS, Colo.,– The Wyoming Cowgirls had another solid day on the courts Saturday with day two of the Jon Messick Invitational, hosted by Colorado State. The Cowgirls advanced a trio into Sunday’s Draw Finals.

Violetta Borodina, Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia and Ruby Young all earned straight-set victories Saturday to advance to the finals of their individual draws Sunday morning. In Draw A, Kochelaevskaia won 6-3 and 6-4 over Zou of Chicago to advance to her final.

In “B”, Borodina won decisively, 6-2 and 6-3 over another opponent from Chicago. Rounding out the finalists for Sunday is Ruby Young, who won 6-3 and 6-4 over Celorio Morales of Weber State to advance in Draw H.

Wyoming also picked up three doubles wins Saturday. Borodina and Dilnaz Mashabayeva won 6-4 in their first match of the day before losing in the next round. The Cowgirls got a couple of consolation final wins in doubles on the day. The team of Serina Abriola and Silver Bijlsma won 7-6 (8-6). Also winning in the consolation was Kochelaevskaia and Young, who won 6-3.

Sunday will conclude play at the Messick Invite with day three of action.
