CHEYENNE -- I will never forget laying on the floor of my grandparent's bedroom listening to those late Wyoming games at Hawaii.

Dave Walsh, the "voice of the Cowboys," was emphatically dissecting the play-by-play and Kevin McKinney was giving me the visual I desperately needed since the local newspaper would not have any game stories or photos the following day because of the late ending. I remember thinking, "How can my grandma be sleeping right now?' The way Dave gets into even the most minor call had me on edge until at least 3:30 a.m.

I was in attendance at the Las Vegas Bowl, but one of my first thoughts was, "I can't wait to get home and hear Dave's call." Sure enough, it was worth the wait. That was the Cowboys first bowl win in my lifetime.

I remember blowing off my friends and a night out when Wyoming played at Louisiana-Monroe in 1999. The recall the emotion in Dave's voice as Alex English took back the opening kickoff for a touchdown. I tried to picture Patrick Chukwurah's pick six. I'm sure it was as beautiful as it sounded.

I definitely flew off my bed, arms flailing.

When I was a freshman in college, one of my first assignments was to "shadow" someone in the media. Hanging with Dave and Kevin was a no-brainer. And, of course, they obliged and let me sit in the booth with them the last time BYU came to War Memorial Stadium.

I definitely learned how broadcasters pass the time during a blowout. It was hard not to freak out watching that disaster. It was hard for Kevin, too.

My bosses were none-too-thrilled when I was a line cook in my 20's. I told them the only way I was coming to work is if I could have my headphones on. It was the road game at Toledo. Wyoming won 20-15 in the Glass Bowl. I don't recall if there was any screaming coming from the kitchen area.

These two gentlemen have served as the soundtrack of the falls and winters in Wyoming for more than three decades.

How lucky are we?

I'm sure you have a story or 10, too. If so, let's hear them.
