FRESNO, Calif., -- The Cowboys will face another test on Sunday heading to Fresno State for a showdown with the Bulldogs. Wyoming’s third game this week is set for a 5 p.m. MT on FS1 and is the first meeting between the teams this season.

Wyoming is off to their best start in Mountain West play since opening 8-1 during the 2001-02 season.

The Pokes are 18-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play. Wyoming is 6-2 on the road this season. The Cowboys rank No. 17 in the nation in field goal percentage at 48.3. Wyoming is shooting 50 percent from the field in conference games. Wyoming leads the MW in free throws made this season with 322 and is shooting 72 percent from the line. The Pokes are holding opponents to 28.3 percent from behind the arc to rank No. 14 in the nation.

Fresno State heads into the contest on Sunday with a 16-6 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play.

The Bulldogs are one of the nation’s top defensive teams, holding opponents to 57.5 points per game on the season. That number ranks fifth in the nation and second in the conference. The Bulldogs hold opponents to 40.6 percent from the field on the season, a number that ranks second in the MW No. 57 in the nation.

About The Players

Wyoming is led by scoring this season by Graham Ike at 20.4 per game to rank second in the league. He also leads the team in rebounds at nine per game. He is one of three players in the nation to average over 20 points per game and nine rebounds.

Ike, along with Hunter Maldonado, are the nation’s top scoring duo, as Maldonado adds 19.2 points per game to rank fourth in the MW. He leads the conference and ranks fifth in the nation with 6.5 assists per game.

Drake Jeffries adds 11.1 points per night and ranks fourth in the nation shooting 48 percent from behind the arc.

Fresno State is led by Orlando Robinson, one of the top players in the MW at 19 points per game. He also adds 8.2 rebounds per game and is an excellent passer with 63 assists on the season.

Anthony Holland adds 10 points per game and is also second on the team with 6.2 assists per night.

About The Series

Wyoming trails the all-time series against the Bulldogs, 21-12. This series dates back to 1972. The Pokes are 3-14 all-time in Fresno and split the season series at the Save Mart Center a season ago.

The Cowboys held on for a 78-74 victory in the opening tilt of a two-game series last winter. Hunter Thompson led the visitors with 22 points and hit 7-of-8 3-point attempts. Marcus Williams and Maldonado each chipped in with 13 and Jeremiah Oden finished with 11.

Fresno State won the second meeting, 81-61. Robinson netted a game-high 33 points.

Ike did not play against the Bulldogs last winter.
