LAS VEGAS, Nev., -- Four Cowboy grapplers were in action over the weekend competing in the U20 Freestyle Nationals Championships hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Contingent of Cowboys was led by Jore Volk, who finished second at 57kg.

Volk opened his tournament in very impressive fashion winning six straight matches to punch his ticket to the finals. In his six-match winning streak, Volk outscored his opponents 65-15 rolling into the finals. In the Championship match, Volk dropped a hard-fought battle the 2022 U17 world Champion Luke Lilledahl.

With the second-place finish, Volk earns a spot at the U20 World Team Trials and will have a chance to make his second consecutive U20 world team. The U20 World team trials are set to take place in Geneva, Ohio June 2-4.

Incoming Freshman Cole Brooks had a strong weekend as well finishing fourth at 65kg after posting a record of 8-2 over the two days of competition. In his run to a top four finish, Brooks pulled off a 10-8 upset over No. 1 seeded Vince Cornella. Brooks will now also have the chance to compete at the U20 World Team Trials.

Kevin Zimmer (125kg) and Logan Ours (70kg) were both in action as well with Zimmer posting a record of 1-2 while Ours went 5-2 on the weekend just missing out on finishing inside the top eight.
