Welcome to Wyoming Football: Ethan Stuhlsatz
LARAMIE -- Wyoming has welcomed nearly 50 new faces this offseason.
Transfer portal era, am I right?
Jay Sawvel knew a rebuild on defense was in order after losing both starting linebackers and safeties, along with leaders like Jordan Bertagnole and DeVonne Harris. The departures of Wrook Brown, Sabastian Harsh and Keany Parks only magnified things.

The second-year head coach got busy, inking a dozen transfers on that side of the ball on February's traditional signing day and adding three more since the annual spring game.
On offense, the damage was limited.
Yes, running back Harrison Waylee is now at Virginia. Young wideout Justin Stevenson is a Utah Ute now, too. But if you ask Sawvel, he kept the players he wanted on offense, beginning with quarterback Kaden Anderson.
Three of the Cowboys' top linemen -- Jack Walsh, Caden Barnett and Wes King -- are also back. So is tight end John Michael Gyllenborg, wide receivers Chris Durr Jr. and Jaylen Sargent, along with leading rusher Sam Scott.
So, without further ado, let's spent the summer meeting the new players that litter this 2025 roster:
NAME | Ethan Stuhlsatz
YEAR | Senior
HT/WT | 6' 4", 241
HOMETOWN | Wichita, Kan.
POSITION | Linebacker
JERSEY NUMBER | 42
PREVIOUS SCHOOL | Lindenwood
YEARS OF ELIGIBILITY | Two
NOTABLE | Ethan Stuhlsatz tallied a total of 90 tackles during the previous two seasons at Lindenwood, an FCS school in Missouri. The bulked-up linebacker registered just 20 of those last fall. Not impressed? That came in just two games, one of which was a nine-tackle performance against Kansas, before a torn hamstring cost him the rest of the 2024 campaign. That injury occurred in a Week-2 meeting versus Central Arkansas. Stuhlsatz finished with 11 tackles and a strip-sack that afternoon. He earned Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors with a team-high 70 tackles in 2023. He finished in double figures four times that year. The former First Team All-State performer at Mt. Carmel High School began his career at Butler Community College.
QUOTABLE | "Oh yeah. I mean, just coming in for that first team meeting, you can feel the animosity in the room. I mean, (Sawvel) shot it straight with us: This team needs to have more violence. Violence breeds violence, and you could definitely feel that, especially on inside run today," -- Ethan Stuhlsatz on what he will bring to the defense in 2025
