Junior Melissa Mirafuentes and sophomore Juan Gonzalez each placed seventh in the 1- and 3-meter events, respectively. Senior Brendan Byrnes and junior Payton Lee both made it to the finals, finishing 12th and 15th.

“Today, the inconsistency of our training showed up a bit in our performances,” UW diving head coach Ted Everett said. “We had some really good moments from everyone and then some moments that were less than ideal. Overall, I’m pleased with where we are at this point in the season. The effort was good from everyone.”

The performances Friday occurred on the heels of Thursday’s exhibition event where all three Wyoming divers – both for the men and women – competed in a team event. The format had each diver perform two dives on one of the three boards.

In that competition, the Cowgirl team of Mirafuentes, senior McKenna Houlihan and freshman Gabriella Hagler took second behind only Stanford. The men’s team of Gonzalez, Byrnes and Lee placed third behind only Stanford and Cal Baptist.

The Bruin Diving Invite continues Saturday with the men on platform and the women on 3-meter.
