USAF ACADEMY, Colo., – The University of Wyoming swim and dive program closed day one at the Air Force meet against the Falcons, Denver and LSU with four event wins and eight Top 3 finishes, Friday night. The Cowgirls currently only lead Denver in the dual meet scores at 94 to 92.

COWGIRLS
The first event for Wyoming was the 200-yard Medley Relay and the Cowgirl squad of juniors Tessa Bendokas, Taylor Craft, Sophie Nutter and Tara Joyce finished in fourth with a time of 1:45.19, 0.68 seconds faster than their first meet.

Joyce would follow up that team performance by winning the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 50.60. Sophomore Avery True would follow in sixth, touching the wall at 51.98.

Freshman Raiden Harris picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard Backstroke with a time of 2:04.48 while senior Ellie Fritscher grabbed eighth with an improved time of 2:08.52.

Sophomore Macey Hansen won the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:01.22, beating out two LSU swimmers who were nearing late.

In the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, the Cowgirl team of Nutter, senior Veronika Ozimek, Harris and Joyce finished in second place with a time of 3:25.28, less than a second behind first.

In the 1-meter dive, seniors Alicia Gonzalez and Natalie Six placed third and fourth, respectively. Gonzalez scored 248.50 while Six improved to 237.45.

The Cowgirls currently lead only Denver in the dual meet scores, 94-92

COWBOYS
Freshman Jackson Kogler picked up the first victory of the meet when he won the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:02.17.

In the 200-yard Backstroke, junior Simon Casey touched the wall second. He finished at 1:51.87.

Sophomore Isaac Lee took first in the 500-yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 4:34.46. Junior Derek Long finished in eighth with his finish of 4:46.71 in the race.

The Cowboy squad of Casey, Kogler, freshman Jack Boysen and sophomore Luke O’Connor finished fourth in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay to close the night.

Day two of the Air Force meet will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. MT, with the women’s 400-yard medley relay and diving competition.
