LARAMIE -- Jett Vincent's player profile on Colorado State football's official website has already vanished.

The junior is just fine with that. He has, too.

"I would rather be the villain than the hero," he said.

He'll be just that when the Cowboys head south to Fort Collins to face their Border War rivals in the 2026 season opener inside Canvas Stadium. Vincent, who called CSU home during his first two collegiate seasons, announced Tuesday on social media he has signed with Wyoming.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety has two years of eligibility remaining.

Vincent is the seventh transfer to ink with the Cowboys in the last 48 hours.

Vincent appeared in 16 games for the Rams, tallying nine tackles and a quarterback hit and hurry as he split time between the linebacker spot and secondary. The Grinnell, Kansas product was on the field for 73 defensive snaps last fall. He added 99 more, playing on every special teams unit.

The former 8-man Defensive Player of the Year in his home state suited up in seven games as a true freshman in 2024. He was on the field for 66 special teams snaps.

Vincent, a former three-star recruit and the 19th-best player in the state, per 247sports.com, received an offer from the University of North Dakota out of Canton-Galva High School -- and also interest from Kansas and Kansas State -- after becoming the state's all-time leader in interceptions with 36. Seven of those went for touchdowns

CSU was his lone FBS offer.

“He's tough. He’s played in the cold. He’s played other positions and played hurt. He had an injured back and still played in the playoffs," former defensive coordinator Freddie Banks told csurams.com back in 2022. In the Mountain West, you have to be tough to win, so you have to recruit tough kids. He was upset and there was a little chip on his shoulder that he wasn’t getting recruited and didn’t have more offers.

"We want those guys to play for us and ticked off at everybody else.”

So does Wyoming.

Vincent, admittedly, was a little surprised to see area code 307 on his phone. The visit to the high plains, though, sealed the deal.

"All the coaches and football support staff made choosing Wyoming the easiest decision I've ever made," he said. "Laramie is a beautiful town full of wonderful people and I’m excited to be a Cowboy.

"Putting on that UW jersey for the first time just felt right."

Yes, he's already received some ribbing from his former teammates. It's been all in good fun, Vincent said, adding most are happy he found a new home.

Also, yes, he already has Sept. 5 circled.

"No better opportunity than Week 1."
