LARAMIE -- Just a day after Boise State was forced to postpone its basketball game at Wyoming due to COVID-19 concerns, it's the Cowboys this time who had to pull the plug on Tuesday's contest in Reno for the same issues.

This is just the second Wyoming game that has been delayed this winter. During the 2020-21 season, two games were postponed and three were outright canceled because of the ongoing pandemic.

Per Mountain West Conference policy, an effort to reschedule the game at Nevada will be made at a later date, if possible. If it can't be replayed, it will be considered a no contest.

Saturday in Laramie, the tilt between the Cowboys and Broncos was axed a little more than 30 minutes before its scheduled 2 p.m. tipoff. Boise State didn't have the required seven healthy players and a coach in order to participate.

This is the eighth conference game to be postponed so far this season.

Wyoming's women's team -- who played at UNLV last Friday without four of its players because of virus concerns -- was also forced to put Monday night's home game against Boise State on hold.

The men's next scheduled game is Saturday night at Fresno State. The Bulldogs have also been unable to play their last two scheduled games against Air Force and San Diego State. According to CBSsports.com, more than 100 college basketball teams around the country had to put their seasons on hold during December with the omicron variant prompting the latest outbreak of the coronavirus.

Wyoming has not played a game since Christmas Day.

"It goes without saying that we're fortunate to play any games right now," Wyoming head coach Jeff Linder said last week before back-to-back cancelations. "... I mean, luckily, our guys have stayed safe -- relatively safe -- knock on wood.

"... Hopefully we can play as many games as we can, and you hope that the other team stays healthy and we can play as many games as possible come conference."
