Wyoming Signs Former Arizona Wideout Jackson Holman
LARAMIE -- Wyoming has added another veteran piece to its wide receivers room.
Jackson Holman, who spent the previous two seasons at the University of Arizona, signed with the Cowboys this week, becoming the second outside threat and the 13th transfer to join the program this offseason.
The 6-foot-4, 208-pound California product has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
During his tenure in Tucson, Holman appeared in eight games, seven coming last fall. He didn't register a catch, only a tackle on special teams.
Holman was a top target during his days at Mission Viejo High School -- the same program that produced former Cowboys Colin O'Brien and Jamari Ferrell -- hauling in 79 catches for 1,339 yards and 16 touchdowns. Seven of those scores came during his senior campaign. So did 528 yards through the air to go along with 26 receptions.
It was a breakout junior year for Holman that grabbed the attention of Power-4 schools like Utah, Vanderbilt and Arizona. After snagging 46 passes for 699 yards and eight touchdowns, a host of Ivy League programs came calling for the three-star prospect. So did Wyoming's top nemesis Colorado State.
After entering the NCAA Transfer Portal last December, Holman again received a number of offers from the likes of Fordham, Bucknell, Idaho State, Eastern Washington, Cal Poly, Southern Utah, UC Davis and Northern Arizona.
His lone FBS opportunity came courtesy of Jay Sawvel and the Cowboys.
Holman joins fellow transfer Eric Richardson from Northwest Missouri State on the 2025 roster. Wyoming also welcomed incoming freshmen Deion DeBlanc (Houston), Pierre "PJ" Jackson (Chicago) and Ke'lyn Washom (Houston).
The Cowboys did lose 14 players this offseason to college football's version of free agency, including a pair of starting wideouts Tyler "TK" King and Justin Stevenson. Those two, who combined for 34 catches, 440 yards and three receiving touchdowns, inked with New Mexico State and Utah, respectively. Kayden LaFramboise, a Gillette native, also left the program in December. He didn't record a stat in two seasons in Laramie.
The team's leading receiver, Jaylen Sargent, returns for his final year after snagging a career-high 23 balls for 480 yards and two scores. Chris Durr Jr. will also be in the mix after catching 31 passes for 348 yards and a touchdown during his true freshman season.
Wyoming is still in search of a veteran quarterback. The staff is looking to add three more transfers before the spring semester begins Jan. 21, according to a source familiar with the situation. Work isn't done at the high school level, either. Coaches are in hopes of adding at least five more prep players in February during the NCAA's traditional signing day. The target number is roughly 42 newcomers, per that same source.
Spring football practice will begin in Laramie March 25.
