Wyoming Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif., – The University of Wyoming soccer team couldn’t capitalize on momentum Sunday at Fresno State. Just three days removed from their first Mountain West Conference victory of the season, the Cowgirls fell to the Bulldogs, 2-0, at the Bulldog Soccer Stadium.
The loss drops Wyoming to 5-6-3 overall and 1-5-0 (3 points) in conference play. The win improves Fresno State to 2-6-6 overall and 1-2-3 (6 points) in league action.
The Bulldogs scored the game’s two goals during the second half. Kaelyn Miller found the back of the net off a feed from Ciara Wilson in the 55th minute. Wilson scored a goal of her own during the 85th minute off a pass from Lizbeth De Loera.
Fresno State led 13-10 in shots and 8-6 in shots on goal. Nikayla Copenhaver, Raegan Richardson and Jazi Barela each fired two shots to pace the Cowgirls.
Miyuki Schoyen turned away six shots in goal for Wyoming. Valentina Vivas logged six saves, as well, for the Bulldogs.
The Cowgirls return home Thursday. They play host to Air Force at 3 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex before hosting Colorado College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
