Only a select number of Wyoming’s student-athletes will compete in Denver. A couple will utilize it as one final tune-up before the conference championships, while others have been tapering and will wear a special suit in an effort to go as quickly as possible.

“There are quite a few people on this team that have worked very hard but based on the rules and everything with our conference, we can only take a certain number of athletes to the conference championships,” head coach Dave Denniston said. “So, this meet is nice, as it’s a way for the athletes who aren’t able to travel on that trip to taper, wear a fast suit and see how fast they can go.”

Wyoming is sending 13 swimmers to Denver – nine Cowgirls and four Cowboys. Friday’s portion of the competition begins at 3 p.m., while Saturday’s meet kicks off at 10 a.m.

As mentioned, conference championship season is right around the corner. The Mountain West Conference Championships run from Feb. 15-18, and the Western Athletic Conference Championships go from Feb. 22-25.
