Wyoming’s Brian Hill Rolls Up 81 Yards of Total Offense in XFL Debut
LARAMIE -- Brian Hill hopes the XFL can be a vessel back to the game's biggest stage.
In an interview with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch last October, after being selected in the sixth round of the newest professional football league's inaugural draft, the former Wyoming star said he's far from done with this game.

"I have a lot of football left in me and I’m looking forward to showing people that," the 26-year-old told STL Today. "This camp is a great opportunity for me and for the rest of the guys here. It’s almost like we’re working as a team because we’re all here for the same reason — to get a chance to keep playing professional football."
Hill suited up for his hometown team, the St. Louis BattleHawks, in Sunday's season opener. The former Belleville West (Ill.) standout rushed for a team-high 55 yards on just six carries for an average of 9.2 yards per rush.
After briefly leaving the game with an undisclosed injury, Hill broke off a 40-yard fourth-quarter run as St. Louis scored 15 points in the final minutes to stun San Antonio inside the Alamodome, 18-15.
Hill also added three catches for 26 yards in the win.

During his three seasons in Laramie, Hill rushed for a school record 4,287 yards and 35 rushing touchdowns. He also owns the single-season record, rushing for 1,860 yards and 22 scores during the 2016 season. That production earned Hill First Team All-Mountain West honors. He was eventually selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
In parts of five seasons -- 44 games -- with Atlanta, Cincinnati and San Francisco, Hill rushed for 982 yards on 209 attempts. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound running back also found the end zone three times on the ground. Hill had also hauled in 38 career passes for 313 yards and a touchdown.
Hill also spent time in Tennessee and Cleveland during his brief NFL career before signing with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League.
“My career rushing average is 4.7 per carry. That’s better than some starters in the NFL right now,” Hill told the St. Louis newspaper. “I know where I am and where I want to be. I know I can play this game and I’m really excited about the opportunity with the XFL. Right now, the XFL is my focus. But I’m hopeful that a strong season in the XFL will help open up some opportunities for me in the NFL next season.”
Hill is currently the only former Wyoming football player in the XFL.
