* University of Wyoming press release
GREENWOOD, Ind., – A pair of Wyoming Cowgirls have been named to the College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Team for Tennis, announced Tuesday by the organization.
Ana Fernandez and Maria Oreshkina both earned the accolade.

In order to be considered for the all-district honor, a student-athlete must have a minimum of a 3.50 GPA and be a starter or significant contributor. Both Fernandez and Oreshkina were named to the All-Mountain West Teams in the end of April and helped lead the Cowgirls to the first regular season Mountain West title in program history.

Oreshkina, meanwhile, became just the second Cowgirl in program history to be named All-Mountain West four times, after she was named to the All-Singles Team. Oreshkina went 5-4 in league play this season and had eight dual wins overall in the spring.
Fernandez, who graduated last spring with her Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, is currently in graduate school.
Oreshkina, who is majoring in Geospatial Information Science, will graduate this spring. The duo and the rest of the Cowgirls will be playing next week in Peachtree City, Georgia, in the inaugural Universal Tennis NIT Championships.
