Jeremiah Oden Third Cowboy to Enter Transfer Portal in Two Days
LARAMIE -- Welp, there goes another one.
Junior forward Jeremiah Oden Tuesday entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, joining Wyoming teammates Noah Reynolds and Nate Barnhart. Max Agbonkpolo, Ethan Anderson and Jake Kyman, who all left the program in early February, are also on the open market.
Oden is coming off his best season in Laramie where he averaged nearly 10 points a night while appearing in 30 games for the Cowboys. The Chicago native also added nearly four rebounds and shot better than 44% from the field while averaging 24.7 minutes per game.
Oden's best night came just two weeks ago when he netted a career-high 28 points in a senior-night victory over Nevada. He finished 9-of-13 shooting and sank all three of his attempts from deep. Oden reached double figures in the last three games of the season, including a 15-point outing in Wyoming's 87-76 quarter-finals loss to New Mexico in the Mountain West Tournament.

"I mean, JO has got the talent," Wyoming's third-year head coach Jeff Linder said after the regular-season finale at San Diego State. "He puts in the time, the effort and sometimes just a matter of getting comfortable ... We need a guy that can go make a play, and he's got the talent to go make a play. It's just a matter of picking and choosing his spots and keeping it simple. When he keeps it simple, he shoots spot-up jumpers, has straight-line drives and it gets into some dribble downs. He's hard to guard. We need him to continue to keep making strides like that."
Known for his athleticism, the 6-foot-8, 201-pound Oden was heavily recruited out of Sunrise Christian Academy. St. Bonaventure, UMass, Minnesota, DePaul, Illinois State, Saint Louis, Drake, Valparaiso, UNC-Greensboro, Illinois-Chicago, South Dakota and others offered after Oden averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game. He also hit 38% of his shots from beyond the arc.
Linder lured the three-star prospect to Laramie before the 2020-21 campaign. Oden appeared in 24 games and started 11 as a true freshman. The following season he started 32 of the Cowboys' 34 games, including the First Four appearance against Indiana in the NCAA Tournament. That night in Dayton, Oden sank his one 3-point try and added a pair of free throws in a 66-58 loss to the Hoosiers.
With Oden departure, Linder and Co. now have eight available scholarships out of 13 slots. Brendan Wenzel is the only Wyoming player to publicly announce he will be back in the fall. The junior guard averaged nearly eight points per outing in 2022-23.
As of now, only Xavier DuSell, Caden Powell, Graham Ike, Kenny Foster and Wenzel are the remaining scholarship players.
The Green Bay Press Gazette is also reporting that assistant coach Sundance Wicks is one of five finalists for the head coaching position at Wisconsin-Green Bay.
