Pokes Ink 300-Pound Defensive Tackle From Bucknell
LARAMIE -- Wyoming needed to replace some production in the trenches with Jordan Bertagnole eyeing the NFL and Jaden Williams now at Kentucky.

Jay Sawvel and Co. did just that Monday, inking 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle Aneesh Vyas via the NCAA Transfer Portal. The West Chester, Ohio product spent the previous four seasons at Bucknell, an FCS program in Pennsylvania.
The graduate transfer has one season of eligibility remaining.
In 35 games for the Bison, the former All-State selection from Lakota West High School tallied 75 tackles and 4.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage. Vyas also tackled on 0.5 sacks, broke up five passes and recovered a pair of fumbles.
He was also disruptive on special teams, blocking five kicks, including an eye-popping three during his sophomore campaign.
Vyas is coming off a 25-tackle performance in 2024. He also got his hands on three pass attempts. His best outing came in a Week 8 tilt at Georgetown where he capped his day with six tackles, five of which were solo stops. He played in all 12 games, starting 10.
Aside from all-conference academic honors, Vyas was also named a second-team selection in the Patriot League.
Wyoming has now secured 15 transfers this offseason, including 10 on the defensive side of the ball. Edge rushers Dawan Martin (Youngstown State) and Brayden Wilson (Weber State) join Vyas on the front four.

The defensive tackle spot, despite losing two regulars, is one of the deepest positions on the roster, featuring returners Jayden Williams, Dante Drake and Ben Florentine, along with Lucas Samsula and Caleb Robinson, both of which missed the '24 season with injuries.
That group will now be under the direction of Deonte Gibson. The Cowboys new defensive tackles coach replaces Jeff Phelps, who lasted just one season in Laramie.
After also landing veteran quarterback Landon Sims Monday, the staff is likely done adding to the roster until Feb. 5, the NCAA's traditional signing day.
Sawvel, in an effort to ink roughly 42 newcomers this winter, is in search of a punter/ kicker combination and a back-up long snapper, along with an additional defensive tackle and edge rusher from the high school ranks, according to a source familiar with the situation.
That same source indicated the school will also look to bring on another prep running back.
