Welcome to Wyoming Football: Peter Eyabi
LARAMIE -- Wyoming has welcomed nearly 50 new faces this offseason.
Transfer portal era, am I right?
Jay Sawvel knew a rebuild on defense was in order after losing both starting linebackers and safeties, along with leaders like Jordan Bertagnole and DeVonne Harris. The departures of Wrook Brown, Sabastian Harsh and Keany Parks only magnified things.

The second-year head coach got busy, inking a dozen transfers on that side of the ball on February's traditional signing day and adding three more since the annual spring game.
On offense, the damage was limited.
Yes, running back Harrison Waylee is now at Virginia. Young wideout Justin Stevenson is a Utah Ute now, too. But if you ask Sawvel, he kept the players he wanted on offense, beginning with quarterback Kaden Anderson.
Three of the Cowboys' top linemen -- Jack Walsh, Caden Barnett and Wes King -- are also back. So is tight end John Michael Gyllenborg, wide receivers Chris Durr Jr. and Jaylen Sargent, along with leading rusher Sam Scott.
So, without further ado, let's spent the summer meeting the new players that litter this 2025 roster:
NAME | Peter Eyabi
YEAR | Junior
HT/WT | 6' 2", 240
HOMETOWN | San Diego, Calif.
POSITION | Defensive end
JERSEY NUMBER | 18
PREVIOUS SCHOOL | Riverside City College
YEARS OF ELIGIBILITY | Two
NOTABLE | After snagging Esaia Bogar out of Riverside City College in the winter, Wyoming's head coach plucked yet another edge rusher from the southern California junior college, signing Peter Eyabi. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound junior registered 11.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss last fall in just 12 games. He tallied 54 total stops, including a season-high seven in a 70-45 rout of No. 16 El Camino. He chalked up at least two sacks in three outings. He also batted down a pass and forced a fumble. He was recruited by Mountain West foes San Jose State and New Mexico this offseason. Campbell and Idaho State also offered. Eyabi originally played at Washington State after a standout career -- 14 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks as a senior -- at Mission Hills High School. He redshirted in 2022, his lone season in Pullman.
QUOTABLE | "When it comes to production, production pays the bills. Clearly, we are wanting everything to be really sexy on a stat sheet -- tackles for loss and sacks -- but the No. 1 key we've got to understand is, before you can even do that right now, we've got to start from scratch. We've got to get the basics down," -- UW defensive ends coach Brian Hendricks said, referring to an almost entirely new unit in 2025
