The Cowboys, who finished last season 9-22 overall, appeared in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam last fall, knocking off Howard 78-71 before dropping the final two contests against Drake and Boston College.

In South Carolina, three of the teams in attendance are coming off a trip to the NCAA Tournament: Vermont, Furman and Charleston.

You might recall No. 13 Furman's last-second 68-67 victory over four-seed Virginia. The College of Charleston, which is coached by former Cowboy Pat Kelsey, fell to San Diego State in the opening round. The Aztecs also took care of Furman to move on to the Sweet 16. Vermont lost to Marquette.
