7220Sports.com Kickoff Show: This Isn’t the Same Ol’ Lobos
LARAMIE -- Whew.
I was busy writing Wyoming's obituary when DeVonne Harris -- with a little help from his buddies -- blew through the Appalachian State line and got his big left mitt on a 47-yard field-goal attempt late in the fourth quarter.
Jakorey Hawkins, Johnny on the spot, scooped up the loose change and raced down the sideline untouched to give the Cowboys a 20-19 lead with less than two minutes left in regulation.
Wait, they took the lead?
On a night when not much went right for the home team, enough did.
Wrook Brown sealed the deal with a late interception to vault the Pokes to 3-1 on the season. Couldn't ask for a better 21st birthday present than that for the sophomore nickel corner.
Jared Newland and I break down that improbable win over the visiting Mountaineers and look ahead at Wyoming's homecoming matchup with New Mexico.
This isn't the same ol' Lobos, either. These guys can throw the ball. That doesn't mean they've abandoned the running game or Rocky Long's trademark 3-3-5 defense. New Mexico enters this homecoming tilt with a 2-2 record after knocking off UMass last Saturday in overtime.
We also chat about the dismissal of running back DQ James and whether or not there is a quarterback controversy in Laramie.
Spoiler: There isn't.
