LARAMIE -- Wyoming has added some size to its guard-heavy roster.

Renars Sondors, a 6-foot-9 stretch forward, has committed to the Cowboys after spending the previous two seasons at Louisiana Monroe.

"Pokes got better today," head coach Sundance Wicks penned on X.

The Latvia native started 25 of the Warhawks' 28 games last winter, averaging 10.7 points per game. Sondors shot 44.1% from the floor and splashed 44-of-128 attempts from three, including connecting on 35% from deep in Sun Belt Conference play.

He also added more than four rebounds a night in 28.5 minutes of work.

Playing in three games against high-major opponents -- Ole Miss, Miami (Fla.) and Kansas State -- Sondors averaged 11 points and three boards. He also hit eight threes in that timeframe. He netted 12 in a lopsided loss to the Hurricanes.

The soon-to-be junior finished in double figures 19 times, including a stretch of five straight league games in January.

His best individual outing came in early November when he scored 19 points and snagged seven rebounds in an 88-55 victory over Rust College. He netted the same amount of points against Arkansas State in February.

Sondors also received interest this offseason from Iona, Indiana State and Coastal Carolina, among many other programs. Mountain West foes San Jose State and UTEP also expressed interest in the former gold medalist on the 2023 Under-18 European Championship Latvian squad.

Sondors is the third transfer to choose Laramie this spring, joining shooting guard Parker Gerrits (Washington State) and small forward Michael Mora, who spent the previous two seasons at Cal State Monterey.

Guards Naz Meyer and Khaden Bennett announced earlier this month they will return. That duo combined for nearly 24 points and 10 rebounds per game last winter. Back-up point guard Uriyah Rojas will also be back for his senior campaign. He netted 6.2 a night while averaging 16.5 minutes of court time.

Forward Gavin Gores will also be back for his sophomore season.

Guards Damarion DennisJared Harris and Adam Harakow all entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. So did big men Simm-Marten Saadi and Abou Magassa.

Wyoming won 18 games last season, the best output since punching its ticket to the First Four of the NCAA Tournament in 2022. Wicks' squad was ousted in the opening round of the National Invitational Tournament by Wichita State.

The Mountain West will look much different this fall with the departures of San Diego State, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and defending conference champion Utah State. Those five are headed to the reimagined Pac-12. The league will now welcome Hawaii as a full-time member. Grand Canyon was inserted a year ahead of schedule and finished fourth overall with 20 wins.

UNLV, Air Force, New Mexico, Nevada and San Jose State also remain.
