LARAMIE -- Wyoming has welcomed nearly 50 new faces this offseason.

Transfer portal era, am I right?

Jay Sawvel knew a rebuild on defense was in order after losing both starting linebackers and safeties, along with leaders like Jordan Bertagnole and DeVonne Harris. The departures of Wrook BrownSabastian Harsh and Keany Parks only magnified things.

The second-year head coach got busy, inking a dozen transfers on that side of the ball on February's traditional signing day and adding three more since the annual spring game.

On offense, the damage was limited.

Yes, running back Harrison Waylee is now at Virginia. Young wideout Justin Stevenson is a Utah Ute now, too. But if you ask Sawvel, he kept the players he wanted on offense, beginning with quarterback Kaden Anderson.

Three of the Cowboys' top linemen -- Jack WalshCaden Barnett and Wes King -- are also back. So is tight end John Michael Gyllenborg, wide receivers Chris Durr Jr. and Jaylen Sargent, along with leading rusher Sam Scott.

So, without further ado, let's spent the summer meeting the new players that litter this 2025 roster:

NAME | Enock Sibomana

YEAR | Senior

HT/WT | 5' 11", 206

HOMETOWN | Fargo, North Dakota

POSITION | Linebacker/ Hybrid

JERSEY NUMBER | 21

PREVIOUS SCHOOL | North Dakota State

YEARS OF ELIGIBILITY | Two

NOTABLE | Though he didn't make his first-career start until late October, Enock Sibomana was a crucial piece of North Dakota State's National Championship run under first year head coach -- and former Wyoming offensive coordinator -- Tim Polasek. The hybrid linebacker tallied 47 tackles, two sacks and three pass breakups. He also snagged an interception, returning it 34 yards for a touchdown in a rout of Murray State. He also forced one of his two fumbles that afternoon. Sibomana made seven starts in 2024 and appeared in all 16 games. The former zero-star prospect redshirted in 2021 and appeared in just three games the following season. He missed the entire '23 campaign after suffering a broken leg during the preseason. Prior to last fall, Sibomana played a grand total of 33 career snaps, split between defense and special teams, per the Bison Report. Toledo, South Alabama, UTEP and, the Cowboys' opening day opponent, Akron, also offered this offseason. So did Virginia, an ACC school that landed former Wyoming running back Harrison Waylee. According to a source, it is unclear what position Sibomana will play during his first season in Laramie. Wherever that may be, that same source said, "violence" will follow.

QUOTABLE | "He’s been playing a lot for us the last two years and being able to move him to a lot of different spots. He’s a very high IQ football player and he wants to help the team anyway he can. We’ll move him around on different sides of the ball. (That) gives us the best opportunities to win by using him efficiently and effectively," Fargo South High School head coach Tyler Kosel said back in 2020, referring to Sibomana's versatility

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
