LARAMIE -- Did the Cowboys find another gem from Indian Hills Community College?

That's certainly the hope for Sundance Wicks and Co., who recently inked Mattia De Martin, a 6-foot-8 guard who in his lone season at the juco level shot 44.1% from the field after coming to the United States from Vicenza, Italy.

He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Once upon a time, the Wyoming staff found a sharp-shooter from that premiere basketball factory in rural Iowa: Drake Jeffries.

Appearing in just 15 games off the bench, De Martin netted 3.2 points per game while pulling down 1.5 rebounds. He reached double figures only once, pouring in a dozen -- all three-pointers -- in a 107-55 rout of Highland (Ill.) in late February.

He attempted 17 triples, drilling nine of those for a shooting average of nearly 53% from beyond the arc.

De Martin, who played for Team Italy at the Under-19 and 20 level, averaged 18.9 points per game to go along with more than eight boards and nearly six assists during that first year of European competition. He helped lead his team to Gold in the latter.

He is the fifth-known transfer to join the Wyoming program this offseason, joining fellow guards Michael Mora (Cal State Monterey) and Parker Gerrits (Washington State). Wicks also added two new faces to the frontcourt, inking Germany's Linus Ruf and Renars Sondors (Louisiana Monroe).

Guards Naz Meyer and Khaden Bennett announced earlier this month they will return. That duo combined for nearly 24 points and 10 rebounds per game last winter. Back-up point guard Uriyah Rojas will also be back for his senior campaign. He netted 6.2 a night while averaging 16.5 minutes of court time.

Forward Gavin Gores will also be back for his sophomore season.

Guards Damarion Dennis (Texas Tech), Jared Harris and Adam Harakow (Western Michigan) all entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. So did big men Simm-Marten Saadi (Central Arkansas) and Abou Magassa.

Wyoming won 18 games last season, the best output since punching its ticket to the First Four of the NCAA Tournament in 2022. Wicks' squad was ousted in the opening round of the National Invitational Tournament by Wichita State.

The Mountain West will look much different this fall with the departures of San Diego State, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and defending conference champion Utah State. Those five are headed to the reimagined Pac-12. The league will now welcome Hawaii and UTEP as a full-time member. Grand Canyon was inserted a year ahead of schedule and finished fourth overall with 20 wins. UC Davis' basketball programs will also enter the league this summer.

UNLV, Air Force, New Mexico, Nevada and San Jose State also remain.
